Over the last couple of days I have been prepping for our production module.
I changed my Idea last minute after a talk with Matt about what we want to get out of the course during our professional practice session.
I realised doing a short film wouldn't get me the skills I was hoping to get out of the course in order to make me more employable in the industry, so I am taking my production in a whole different direction.
My previous showreel was getting me nowhere when it comes to getting a job as a character animator as it was to general, with creature, character an game animations which character animation studios weren't looking for.
So I am using this module to focus my showreel more on character animation and now aim to produce several shorts showcasing different character animations, from mime, dialogue and creature Dialogue to Musical performance and toony walk cycle.
These are sought after in a character animation showreel (as I found from my research in the professional practice module) and will make more more appealing when applying to studios such as BlueZoo and Jellyfish.
This week we had a talk from Gerald outlining what our aims are for the next few months. I am currently working on putting together a time table for myself to follow and writing out the synopsis for my new ideas.
Next week I will start production on one of the shorts titled 'Code Name' which follows a horse as he makes fun of a prisoner of his that has his own outlaw name.
I have previously animated this shot about a year ago, and wanted to update/ re animate it with everything I have learned as I feel what I have so far is a strong base.
