Wednesday 21st October
In today lecture we we were taught how to turn our idea in to an elevator pitch.
An elevator pitch is where you condense your idea in to its rawest form, only covering the essentials. 60 seconds - 150 words roughly (drawing on the stereo type of people giving their ideas to a manager in the time it takes to go up in a lift)
The lecturers covered all the bases we were split in to our teams and sent a task to complete the pitch structure form they gave us in 20 minutes along with watching 8 minutes of video.
Once our 20 minutes were up we then had to present our 60 second pitch to the class.
I found this task particularly difficult as two of our members weren't around, one had connection issues and it was just me and Jihao who struggled with the vagueness of the questions initially so I had to find other ways of explaining them, Resulting us getting less work done. This had a knock on effect in to the presentation. I ended up running over the allotted time and stammering over information we hadn't managed to fully form.
I learnt a lot about how to present from this session not only through my own failings but also from some of the work presented by other teams. I enjoyed one teams musical intro and presentation style and hope to incorporate some in my final presentation
